| How To Start The Scanner |
The New Market Scanner is launched from the Stock-Data-Management Screen.
CLICK on the Update Watchlists button from the main screen.
Then look for the SCANNER button found in the lower right hand corner.
  The Market Scanner allows you to choose several parameters on the stocks you wished returns. When you CLICK on Start Scan the scanner will connect to the server and begin high-speed processing of thousands of stocks.

| Monitoring The Scanners Progress |
 You will know the Scanner is processing symbols when you see SCANNING MARKETS and a small progress line move across the screen to the right. Also there is a timer displayed in the upper right hand corner. |
| Saving Your Completed Scans Back To A Watchlist |
 Scan Complete ... When the Stock Scan is complete you can save the symbol list back to any watchlist of your choice. In the lower left of the screen - first CHOOSE the watchlist you wish to save your symbols to. Next CLICK on the large SAVE TO WATCHLIST button found in the lower right.  Choose Add and Integrate with Existing Symbols and CLICK on the OK button. When all symbols have been saved you will see the following confirmation message.  |
| Downloading Data For Your New Symbol List |
Simply CLICK in the small check-box next to the watchlist you wish to download
(or you can choose Check-All)
and CLICK on the large PREM. DATA button in the upper right of the screen.

| Verifying A Successful Download |
When the download and analysis is complete you can verify success by clicking on the number corresponding to the Watchlist you saved your scan to.
Your symbol list will be displayed in the center grid.
Check to make sure data has been updated to the latest completed trading day.
 The Download Result field should say Successful. The Analysis field should say Complete. |
| How To Print Your Scans |
The Market Scanner has an additional printing feature which allows you to print a hard-copy list of the scans you run should you desire to do further charting or fundamental research on the stocks retrieved.
You can type in a Report Title for each printout.

How come we can't use the market scanner through the free Yahoo data?
Its a simple fact of mechanics.
The market scanner looks at up to 3 years worth of data for each stock which equates to roughly 750 trading days worth of data.
We are scanning upwards of 10,000 stock symbols which gives us 7.5 million records of price data. Using free data could take 3-4 days to download (if we don't get blocked for bandwith usage) and eat up half your hard-drive.
Then there is the processing of the data. On a typical home computer it would take roughly 10 seconds to adequetly analyze the price history for each stock which gives us roughly 3 hours of processing time. As you can see the sheer time required make the scan not practical. Through the Premium Data the scans are completed remotely on high speed servers that ALREADY HAVE all the data and the processing can be done in just minutes. |
